Explore: building custom reports

Explore is for the question the catalog does not answer. You choose a data source and build the report yourself; everything else — filters, exports, scheduling — works exactly as it does for a built-in report.

Data sources

• Orders, Order line items, Transactions, Payout transactions
• Products, Product variants, Inventory levels
• Customers, Draft orders, Payouts, Disputes

Two modes

Summary groups rows and aggregates them — count, sum, average, minimum, maximum. List returns the raw rows with the columns you choose. Fields are derived from your live data, so the picker never offers something your store does not have.

Matrix (pivot)

Group by two fields in summary mode and switch the layout to Matrix. The second field becomes columns across the top, with a total column at the end — a cross-tab of, say, channel against month.

Charts

Any grouped result can be shown as a bar chart under the table. The chart follows the current grouping and metric, so changing the report changes the chart.

Saving

Save a build under a name and it appears under Custom reports on the Reports page and in the schedule picker, alongside the prebuilt ones.
