Five questions Shopify Analytics will not answer
Shopify's built-in reports are good at what happened. They are weaker at why, and at anything that crosses two dimensions.
Shopify Analytics answers the obvious questions well: sales over time, top products, sessions by channel. The friction starts when a question crosses two dimensions, or needs a number Shopify does not compute for you.
1. Which products lose money?
Revenue rankings flatter heavy, cheap, frequently-returned products. Once cost of goods, fulfillment and commission come off, the order changes — sometimes dramatically. That calculation needs your cost inputs, not just Shopify's.
2. When exactly do orders arrive?
Not which day — which hour of which weekday. That is a two-dimensional question, and it decides when to schedule support cover and when to send campaigns.
3. Who has stopped buying?
Customers with orders in their history and nothing for ninety days are the cheapest revenue available. Finding them means comparing each customer's last order date against today, per customer.
4. What did each discount code actually cost?
Not how many times it was used — how much margin it consumed, next to the revenue it brought in.
5. How much tax do I owe, by state?
Filing needs tax collected grouped by jurisdiction for an exact date range, in a file your accountant can open.
Each of these is a prebuilt report in ReportifyPro, and each can be scheduled so the answer arrives without anyone asking again.
